Guest Lecturers: Mr. Ajit Ghanekar and Mr. Mandar Joshi

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands, but in seeing with new eyes. On 10th September, 2011 an interactive session was held  at SSBM on FRM. The Financial Risk Manager (FRM) Certification is the globally recognized professional designation for financial risk managers.

To guide students about FRM to build and advance their career, SSBM invited Mr. Ajit Ghanekar (Managing Consultant, IBM India Pvt. Ltd.) and Mr. Mandar Joshi (Business Analyst, Credit Suisse, Pune). They explained to the students in detail about the FRM certification process.  To be awarded the FRM designation, candidates must complete two rigorous examinations that cover the major topics in financial risk management, demonstrate two years' professional work experience in financial risk management, and meet other requirements. The FRM Program is rigorous and is designed to measure a students’ grasp of the latest technical and industry knowledge. Successful completion of the program signifies a student's ability to keep pace with a rapidly changing financial landscape.

The speakers highlighted the difference between Indian Certification courses being offered by NSE and FRM offered by GARP. While certifications offered by NSE are more focused on Indian markets, FRM is global in approach. Further they emphasized upon the value of FRM program for a banking student. It gives credibility and professional recognition to students apart from being a career enhancement move.

The session ended with a Q&A where the students not only sought clarifications but also showed an interest in pursuing the Certification.
