Guest Lecturer: Mr. Alok Sheopurkar

Continuing with its endeavor to familiarize its students with the corporate culture and skills, SSBM invited Mr. Alok Sheopurkar (Senior Vice President & Head Human Resource, HDFC Mutual Fund), for an interaction with the future bankers. As the Head of Human Resource, he laid stress on talent management and the changing and challenging business environment, career options at campus and studies beyond the classroom teaching. He also laid emphasis on the need for preparing MBA graduates to meet the expectations of the corporate and equipping them with the essential soft skills.

He highlighted the importance of good communication skills and ways to improve them, expanding the knowledge base and the significance of positive attitude. He stressed on the fact that humility, courage and personal integrity is what corporate sector looks for in their future employees and the lack of such skills can also lead to the death of a bright career prematurely.

Sharing his experiences he encouraged the students to look for a job profile which one shall love to work in and also to look forward for diversified profiles. Further the choice of work profile should not be made only on the basis of remuneration or designation that one is being offered. Instead it should be based on the role that one is being offered and its importance and relevance in influencing the organization in particular and the society at large. Lastly he asked the students to always be open to new ideas and experiences as the variety of experiences adds value to ones’ personality.

On the whole the session helped the students to take a step ahead in planning and preparing themselves to embark upon the successful journey towards the corporate world that awaits them in the near future.
